“The Theology is Right in the Rite”Baptism Pt. 1

The premise of this series is that one can discern an entire theology from the Sacramental Rites themselves. Moving step-by-step through the rites we will extract our Catholic understanding. Though easily accessible to anyone, this series is produced with the Deacon and those in Diaconal formation in mind. With that in mind, the series will only cover those Sacraments and Rites that the Deacon may confer or lead.

Prince of Peace

Prince of Peace Parish in Kearney NE now has a place to call their own. After 25 years of being in a warehouse and high school gyms, Prince of Peace parish will be dedicated on Friday, Aug 5, 2011. Tonight I was able to spend a few hours there with the priests, religious, the bishop and parish benefactors, as well as three of our seminarians. I have to tell you, this worship space truly gives glory to God and will lift the hearts and minds of the congregation to the realms of Heaven.
The scale, for this part of Nebraska is generous. Seats about 700. Each painting of the angel is holding a banner that says "Sanctus" reminding us that at the Mass we join the choirs of angels.

Catholic TV and the New Roman Missal

It seems that most everyone is making a goood effort to educate Catholics on the changes to come. Now that we have a completed, printed missal, the efforts are taking on a more fervent and multi-media form of "getting the word out"

Episode #5 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time A

Having some design and coding issues. Previous posts are all lost. The good news is that there were only four previous posts.

OK, I'll admit it. The readings this week were tough. There was just too much good news to choose from! I preached on the second reading, which is out of the norm for me. If you want to see the text, it can be found here.

I'll also admit that I can't remember the last time I had so much fun writing a homily. Of course, I started it last night when I was functioning on only about 4 hours of sleep, so it was pretty funny to give it a read this morning. A real hoot! Glad I looked it over.

I am also listening to my first audio book from audible.com. Mind you I have been listening to audio books for what seems like a hundred years, but this is the first time I used a subscription service. I put a very brief and straightforward review at the back end of this episode.

No doubt, those of you who listen regularly to podcasts, recognize right away some of the uneasiness in my voice. You'll also note a great improvement over Episode 1 so it is only going to get better and better.
